Brisbane City Council has 3 different car parking rates for townhouses and apartments pending the location of the site as follows:

  1. Is your project in the ‘City Core’?
  2. Is your project in the ‘City Frame’
  3. Is your project NOT in the ‘City Core’ or ‘City Frame’.

You can identify if your project site is within the ‘City Core’, ‘City Frame’, or neither by using the below figure as extracted from Brisbane City Plan 2014.

Below we have presented the car parking rate requirements in an easy to read table for each site scenario.

Visitor Parking 1 visitor space for every 20 dwelling units

 

Parking may be provided in tandem spaces where 2 spaces are provided for 1 dwelling

 

At least 50% of visitor parking is provided in communal areas, and not in tandem with resident parking

Minimum 0.15 spaces per dwelling

 

Parking spaces may be provided in tandem spaces where 2 spaces are provided for 1 dwelling

 

At least 50% of visitor parking is provided in communal areas, and not in tandem with resident parking

Minimum 0.25 spaces per dwelling

 

Parking spaces may be provided in tandem spaces where 2 spaces are provided for 1 dwelling

 

At least 50% of visitor parking is provided in communal areas, and not in tandem with resident parking
