Surviving the Brisbane City Council Elections

The Brisbane City Council elections are set for March 2020

Anyone who is currently involved in the DA process in Brisbane is likely feeling a little frustrated by the internal policy changes and slow assessment periods.

This is totally normal and happens every election!

My top 3 tips to survive this period:

– Be patient and allow for more negotiation and issues with Council at this time.

– Council are pushing for a design led city. So if you are proposing a non-compliant or semi-compliant proposal make sure you are leading the way with good design.

-Precedence is probably the worst argument to use at this time. Again, precedence is only a strong argument when legislation and policy have not recently been changed, in addition to the precedence being directly adjoining or nearby the development site.
